Review: Jennifer Garant, Girlfriends Serving Dish

A year ago I fell in love with the artwork of Jennifer Garant. Her one of a kind paintings primarily feature fat women or fat chef's. However, they are not ugly, or anything to point fun at... in fact, her art displays these hefty jolly folks in some of the most classy, and beautiful poses and expressions imaginable.

Recently at my local Marshall's they have been adding gorgeous serving plates with Jennifer Garant's artwork displayed on them. I have managed to pick up every single serving plate in the collection so far. Unfortunately I have been unable to locate them in an entire set, but seeing that each plate only comes to $3.99 it's not too big of a deal.

The Girlfriend's serving plate was one of my most recent finds, and I was delighted to see that the plate also had a sister coffee mug for sale as well.

Appearance:

The Girlfriend's serving plate features two hefty women riding together on a green vintage bicycle. The bike comes with a handlebar carrying basket which is filled with delicately wrapped presents. The women in the front is wearing a red and white striped dress, while she carries in her hand a striped green and white umbrella. Her girlfriend sits at the caboose, wearing a matching (to the umbrella) green and white dress.

The plate has a colorful and fun squiggly border which reminds me of a sombrero due to the colors, and design.

The plate itself measures in at 8 inches in diameter, and is perfect for small snack foods like cake, pie, or cheese and crackers.

If you buy the matching mug, you can even use it as the mugs coaster to prevent spills.

I actually have been hanging the plates up in the kitchen as I collect them. You can of course use them, and they are dishwasher safe. I however enjoy the art aspect of the plates.

As I picked each plate up, I have been collecting a second set to give to my best friend for Christmas, and with the Girlfriend's plate being part of the set, it's perfect to give to a best friend.

All in all the plate is beautiful, features a fun piece of art by Jennifer Garant, and is a collectible. I cannot recommend the Girlfriend's plate more.
