I bought a crossword puzzle book on the new stand in a local grocery
store just because I saw an advertising for one of the cutest little
dolls I have come across in a long time.
I am no stranger to Ashton Drake. Years ago I collected glass dolls
religiously, but as room wore out, I had to stop collecting on such a
high paced routine.
When I saw that the It's Not Easy Being Cute, Resin Doll by Sherry
Rawn was a small doll, I figured it would go perfectly on my work desk.
Small enough to not invade on my space, and detailed enough for me to
enjoy with just a fast glimpse. The baby comes in at just 5 1/2" high,
which I found to be perfect.
The doll is displayed online, and in magazines as this perfect little
slumped over baby. The baby looks sad, with an edging charm that you
cannot deny, because it's not a depressing sadness written on the baby's
face, it;s a frustrated sadness, and it sort of reminded me of how I
feel on a daily basis stuck behind my desk doing the routine 9 to 5. I
had to laugh, as in saying to the baby, 'hey kid, I feel yah'.
Besides the adorable look written on the dolls face, it also comes
with a little bunny ears hat, which reminded me a little bit of the
outfit that they made Ralphie wear in A Christmas Story.
It's Not Easy Being Cute is actually a little baby girl, however
something about this ones face just screams 'I'm a boy," even though the
doll comes with pink accessories, I still see a bay boy. But hey,
that's just me.
Before getting my baby in the mail, I worried about what it would look
like in person, as I have come across a few from Ashton Drake that
looked spectacular on print, and in online ads, yet on arrival the doll
looked much cheaper and less detailed than what I actually received.
It's Not Easy Being Cute however did not disappoint me on arrival. In
fact, the little sweetie had something extra added to her that I could
not see in the photos. This little one has fine brown hair underneath
the pink bunny hat. It's added to the tiny dolls head with precision,
and looks like really newborn baby fuzz, which I thought was just
adorable.
The eyes I feel could have used a little more detail however, as they
are painted on, and not small glass doll eyes, which would have really
made this tiny wonder loo all the more realistic. Granted the eyes do
not take away from just how adorable the doll is as a whole.
The baby comes with a blanket, with the It's Not Easy Being Cute logo
etched into it, and there is a small wooden block that you can place on
the blanket for extra pizazz. The letter A is etched in pink in the
block.
All in all, this doll will not disappoint you. It's adorable for soon
to be mothers, and doll collectors in general. Two thumbs up from me.
-This doll is part of a series, so keep a look out for the other mini dollies.
