Last summer we bought a simple above ground frame pool to enjoy during the hotter summer months.
Swimming in the pool was our first priority, but we learned quickly
that maintaining the pool was a royal pain in the you know what.
The last thing we wanted to do was spend more time maintaining than we
did actually swimming. Luck of the stars must have been with us that
summer though because we discovered a simple product that not only kept
the pool sparkling clean all summer long, but this magic powder also
made the pool turn instantly clear whenever it began to look a little
sickly.
That magic powder you may be asking? It is Leslie's Fresh 'N Clear Pool Shock!
I stumbled into our local Leslie's pool store and came
across a few small bags of Fresh 'N Clear. For $4.69 a bag I imagined it
would not do much, but seeing that I'm a cheap-o I went ahead and
bought it because it had the lowest price compared to other pool shocks.
I also assumed one bag would be enough for our above ground pools size.
I also bought just one to test the stuff out as a trial. If it worked
well I'd be back for more, if not, it would be a lesson learned.
Fresh 'N Clear Fresh 'N Clear according to Leslie's is a new quick-dissolving, non-chlorine shock that will make the pool sparkle while leaving your water 'fresh and clear'.
The directions were to apply 1 pound of Fresh 'N Clear to every 10,000 gallons.
When I got home I yanked open the plastic bag and poured in the
powder. The powder itself is a crunched up white and I watched as small
particles sank to the bottom while dissolving.
The pool at this time had a nasty green algae build up at the bottom.
While letting the Fresh 'N Clear shock dissolve fully, I also went
around the pools surface and bottom with a pool net skimmer to remove
debris and to stir up the algae at the bottom.
As I happily went about skimming I noticed that the pools water was
getting clearer and clearer as I went on. I was shocked really at how
immediate Leslie's Fresh 'N Clear was working! I was not expecting the
pool to look this clear, this quickly!
That day I dubbed Leslie's Fresh 'N Clear a miracle in a bag! Whenever
the pool began to look a little cloudy I'd simply add another bag of
Fresh 'N Clear. It states to use a bag every week, but I found that for
our smaller pool, one bag every 3 or 4 weeks did the trick.
Overall:
Maintaining the pool for the rest of the summer was a cinch thanks to
this stuff! With an addition of their Jumbo Chlorine tablets, my pool
was sparkling clean all summer long with little effort. I opened the
pool up again last week, and made sure I had a supply of Fresh 'N Clear.
I poured a bag in, skimmed, and the shock did its sparkling clear magic
yet again.
Frankly I cannot recommend this shock more! It is priced fair, and works brilliantly.
