I've been on a healthy eating kick for 2 months now, and cut out one of
my all time favorite foods. Chocolate, and high sugary delights like
donuts, cake, and all of those delicious fatty sins. Oh how I miss
gluttony.
At any rate, I like having a bit of sugar here and there, but instead
of slobbering down on a bag of mini Hershey's chocolates, I decided to
get my fix through granola bars. Small morsels of chocolate here and
there hit the spot just as well.
While browsing for my usual brand, Quaker Chocolate Chip Granola Bars,
I came across a bold, pop out at me box of limited edition Granola Bars
by Quaker called Pool Time, Vanilla Milkshake. Normally I do not care
for vanilla milkshakes, or milkshakes in general, but something about
the words, 'limited, and edition' popped out at me, and I wanted to try
it.
On the box, the bars looked pretty not too bad. I shrugged, flopped them in my cart and waited to get home to try one out.
What you see on the box, is a pretty version of what you get in the box.
The Vanilla Milkshake limited edition bars looked sickly. At the very
top we have some rainbow colored sprinkles that look dehydrated. I was
not able to notice any vanilla flavored chocolate morsels like on the
box. Once I bit into it though, the white little morsels are there, but
they are small and also look sickly.
The Flavor:
I wouldn't call this one vanilla milkshake. It has a more sugary
creamy quality to it that reminded me of marshmallow, but there was not
much of a vanilla zing to it at all.
As far as calling it horrible though, I would not go that far. It is
bearable, but not really a flavor you'd want to finish. I tossed the
other half of the bar out to the birds. I'm sure they'll enjoy it.
Granted the bars are cheap, and limited edition, odds are you want to
run out and waste your money on them too. By all means, if you got $4.00
to burn, go right ahead, otherwise just stick to your usual brand.
