I like trying different salad dressings, like anyone else really. I have
spent a few dollars on supposed gourmet salad dressings, only to find
that they tasted repulsive, and I wished I could return it for my money
back.
More recently though, I came across a gourmet salad dressing; Smith & Wollensky Thousand Island Dressing.
Normally this bottle of gourmet salad dressing will run you nearly
$11.00 for one bottle. I picked it up for just $2.99 at Marshall's and
hoped for the best. It would either win me over, or end up in the
garbage pail.
Appearance:
What was really different about Smith & Wollensky Thousand Island
Dressing, was its obvious addition of spices and vegetables that you
could clearly see inside of the bottle. It looked a lot more hearty, and
seemed to include a bunch of extra tid bits that your usual creamy
thousand island dressing does not have.
Taste:
I cut myself up a salad as I usually would, and added a small dab of
Smith & Wollensky Thousand Island Dressing to the mix. I only used a
little on the side though to get a taste test of the dressing. If I
liked it I would add more, if not, well... to the garbage can the bottle
would go.
Surprisingly, Smith & Wollensky Thousand Island Dressing was
incredible. It had a delicious tangy flavor, with a nice sugary, but not
too sugary tint to it. To better put it, this thousand island salad
dressing became one of the best dressings I have ever tried, period.
The dressing is made up of mayonnaise, chili sauce, onions and some
Smith & Wollensky secret spices. You can taste each individual fresh
spice though, only your mouth cannot focus on just one, combined what
you have is a really delicious salad dressing, worthy of being called
gourmet.
Overall:
I wish the price was more affordable, because it is unlikely I will find this one again for such a low price at Marshall's.
Would I spend $11.00 on a bottle of this dressing again though?
The answer is yes. It is seriously that good.
