Movie Review: Jennifer's Body

Last week I saw a really sexy 30 second commercial. The commercial highlighted a new movie called Jennifer's Body that was available on DVD and Blu Ray. What peaked my interest the most was the fact that the movie featured Megan Fox as one of the movies main characters.

Seeing that I think Fox is such a fox, I wanted to see it.

I got lucky and came across the title at my local Sam's Club for $19.99, which in my opinion is way overpriced for a standard DVD. The Blu Ray is worse, priced at $29.99.

The flick was good and bad in ways. Good because the dialog that Megan Fox delivered was pretty raunchy,and funny. Bad because...well, it was just bad.

The movie basically highlighted Megan Fox's sexuality by the way she was dressed, the way she spoke to men, and the way she carried herself.

At first the movie had such a Species quality to it as far as the plot goes. A sexy girl who bats her eyes, and then eats men before they even get a chance to sleep with her.

The plot sucked; it starts off with a local no name of a band coming into the towns only bar to play. Jennifer (Megan Fox) takes an extreme liking to the bands lead singer who is played by Adam Brody. While watching the band a fire erupts.

This scene in particular was just weird, because as the fire begins to roar, Jennifer's nerdy BFF Needy (Amanda Seyfried) stands there silently and watches as the fire tears through the bar. Had she just yelled or something perhaps more people would have lived. It was just weird, and stupid overall.

The girls make their way through a window, and meet with the band out in the parking lot. The lead singer talks Jennifer into coming with him to the bands van. Needy tells her not to go, and from this point on we know that something bad is about to happen to Jennifer.

Instead of the usual rape and kill scene that would naturally take place afterward, we watch as the band comically murdered Jennifer as an offering to the devil. They need to do a ritual on a virgin in order to try and get famous.

Why they thought Jennifer was a virgin still haunts me, if anything they should have kidnapped Needy.

 At any rate though, they needed a virgin, Fox is their virgin (or so they think), and she is the sacrifice.
Jennifer of course rises from the dead in the form of herself, but with a demon living within. She goes on a murderous boy killing spree, and picks off boys from her school one by one.

Without ruining the basics of the flick I will say that it sucked. It was really bad, Needy in particular had no connection whatsoever to her lispy boyfriend in the movie, in fact she failed to connect with anyone which was surprising because Amanda Seyfried always played a good role, in whatever movie she is in. Jennifer's Body though, not so much.
 
Megan Fox played an evil sex kitten of a role, and just watching her was fun. If your a fan of her, and you'd like to see some girl on girl lip action then go ahead and watch the movie. I do however suggest not wasting your money on buying this one. Go rent it if you really want to see it.
