Review of New Colgate Wisp

This past weekend while browsing for a toothpaste I came across a really neat newbie product from Colgate. It's called Wisp, and I am sure plenty of you have already seen those nifty little commercials for this oh-so-adorable use and toss mini toothbrush.

Basically Wisp is just that, a mini toothbrush with a built in bead filled with liquid. Once the bead releases the formula you just brush your teeth with the micro toothbrush, for fresh breath and removal of plaque.

It sounds fantastic, and would be a must have for those of you who eat lunch at work, and have no way to clean your teeth.

Mints are usually my fix, but because this product was new, I had to try it. I was sold on the package, and the cute little toothbrushes.

I bought Wisp in a 4 pack, which came to about $1.00 per disposable toothbrush. It's kind of pricey, but if it worked well, I'd buy the larger pack in the future.

Anyhow, you're here wondering if it's worth buying, or if Wisp's are a total waste.

Appearance:

As mentioned, Wisp's are cute. They are like mini sized toothbrushes. I bought mine in the mint flavor, and could easily see the small green ball attached to the middle of the brushes head. The brush itself has very, very soft rubbery feeling bristles that are meant for brushing. They were small though, and relatively weak to the touch. I couldn't see how these super soft brushes would be effective at removal of plaque.

At any rate, I went ahead and used my first brush. It took a bit for the bead in the middle to burst, but once it did it released a sickening potent mint flavor. In my opinion it was too potent, the kind of curiously strong mint flavor like Altoids.

The small bead however burst on my tongue, so all of the freshness seemed to stick right there. Brushing felt kind of useless, as I could have just sucked on an Altoids Mint with the same results.
The bristles are too soft, and the brush itself too small to get to really hard to reach places. Basically I felt dumb using it, and dumb for even buying it. The Wisp in my opinion is nothing more than a gel mint, with liquid mint inside of it. The whole concept is neat, and a few suckers like myself are surely going to buy into it. However I won't buy this one again, as mints themselves are much cheaper, and just as effective.

The Wisp in general is just gross. If it got any plaque off of my teeth at all, I had to swallow it. With Wisp you don't use water, and having to gulp down your own saliva, the curiously strong mint flavor, and your plaque is just nasty to even think about.
