Review of Chester's Puffcorn

I don't usually eat too much popcorn, or potato chips for that matter. In fact it's rare for me to even browse down such isles.

However whenever my local supermarket has displays of things on the outer isles, I can't help but look and see if the outer isles are featuring something new. A few weeks ago they had an entire display case of Chester's Puffcorn.

I normally would pass this sort of thing up, because I have never been a fan of Cheeto's, but the entire concept intrigued me; basically what I was looking at were gigantic pieces of popcorn that had been puffed out, instead of popped. I like popcorn, so I figured I would go ahead and give Puffcorn a try.

I really didn't know what to expect as far as taste went, but I figured they would either taste like white cheddar cheese Cheeto's, or they would taste like giant puffs of popcorn. I plopped a bag in my cart, and waited to get home to see what these oddities would deliver.

Taste:

When I got home, I yanked open the bag and a very familiar buttery scent of popcorn hit my nose. It was like walking into a movie theater, and the scent was inviting.

The entire concept is really confusing, because you expect to taste white cheddar cheese puffs, but when the buttery aroma of popcorn hits your nose it's a little strange.

The taste however is not strange, Chester's Puffcorn is actually really delicious. You basically imagine the texture of cheese puffs, and instead of having them taste like cheese puffs, they instead taste as realistic as popcorn would taste. The buttery popcorn flavor is all there in its true delicious form, only with a puffy texture. Combined the puffed texture, and popcorn flavor mesh really well together.
They're not necessarily a snack I could munch on for too long though, because the puff pieces are quite large. They are however excellent in small quantity, and make for a really tasty, and interesting snack.

Recommendation:

If you like popcorn, you will like Chester's Puffcorn, it's the first interesting twist on popcorn, and it's a good one! If popcorn has never been your thing, then you may as well pass this one up, because the popcorn flavor is strong.
