Last year while planning a trip to the Bahamas I bought a simple pair of
surf fins. They were small and easy to pack. However, their thicker
design made it annoying to tote along with me while traveling on foot to
remote beaches to do some snorkeling.
I knew that when I returned to the Bahamas this year, I wanted a pair
of fins that would be easy to pack, and would be lightweight enough as
to where they would not pose an issue.
Now I initially had my heart set on Zeagle EZ Travel Fins, however I
found review, after review where users claimed they were horrible fins.
No one though had a review on the newly designed Zeagle Teleoz EZ Travel Fins.
After taking a good look at the fins online, I could tell that the
improvements looked pretty solid, and pretty high in quality compared to
the original EZ Travels.
$60.00, and a week later my newly designed Zeagle Teleoz EZ Travel Fins
were at my front door just waiting to be used. Unfortunately I had to
wait for some warm weather to finally get a go with the fins.
The day finally came this weekend, when I finally got to pull my fins out and put them to use.
Appearance:
The Zeagle Teleoz EZ Travel Fins are quite unique, as they have a
sandal like soft bootie superbly bolted down to a very thin fin. Don't
mistake its thin fin for low quality though, the fin is indeed a nice
sturdy fin. It seems to be made of a semi flexible hard plastic, without
any side rails. It is thin, and designed to easily store in your
luggage without taking up any space.
The boot itself is very interesting. I have a size 8.5 shoe regularly,
so I ordered a medium size fin. The straps on the boot allow me to
easily adjust it to my size. My boyfriend who is in a size 11.5 can also
wear my fins by simply adjusting the straps.
The strap up by your toes is adjustable, and clips into place, while
the straps near your upper foot are held together with velcro.
At the back of the heel, there is a nice sturdy strap that you can
adjust with a simple pull. The strap has a nice soft material built over
the strap for extra comfort.
All in all they are solid, they are sturdy, and they are easily placed
on and off of the feet in the water or out of the water.
My Use:
What I especially liked about the Zeagle EZ Travel Fins was how it
allowed me to walk around easier before getting into the water, due to
its thin blade. With smaller fins I found I would fumble around. You
could always put the fins on in the water, but on land, I always liked
putting them on before getting in. That's just me though. To each his own.
In the water I found I was zipping around like a fish with little to
no effort. I noticed nothing wrong with them. They had a nice tight, yet
comfortable grip to my foot, and my toes were free due to the open toe
design. It felt quite strange at first, but I liked the feel much better
than a closed toe fin.
In the water they were very lightweight, and for what I needed them for (snorkeling), I knew they would do an excellent job.
After getting a feel for the fins, I allowed a relative to give them a
try in the water because he was intrigued by the odd design. He had
never seen fins like this before, and wanted to see what they could do.
He himself is an avid diver, and liked how they felt on the foot
comfort wise. He however claimed they had too much buoyancy to them, and
were dragging his feet up. Personally I did not experience this in the
water, but my primary use for them was to simply skim the waters surface
during snorkeling. For diving however due note that they are buoyant.
Naturally you will still easily be able to dive down with them while snorkeling without any issues (I had no issues anyway),
but for actual dives, they may not be the best fins for you. Primarily
they make for excellent snorkeling fins. A little kick provides quick
speed, and the open toe design will keep you from cramping up.
Overall they are a very nice pair of fins, great for snorkeling, and great for travel.
