Review of New Crystal Light, on the Go, Pure Fitness, Grape Flavored

I used to drink Crystal Light flavor enhanced water a few years ago, but moved on from it when I became fond of Fruit 2'0.

Crystal Light became one of those drinks from my past, and a few times I tried going back to it, but just couldn't grasp what I ever liked about it to begin with. I guess it's an acquired taste.

However about 2 weeks ago while browsing my local Target I saw a newbie product by Crystal Light called Pure Fitness. The package was on sale for only 50 cents, so I figured I'd take it, they were practically giving it away, so why not?

The only flavor available was grape, which was a plus, because it had always been one of my favorite water enhanced flavors.

The Crystal Light, On The Go, Pure Fitness, Grape came in a pack of 7. If you're not aware of what they are, note that On The Go by Crystal Light are slim packages of powdered mix. You simply pour the mix into a bottle of water, shake it a few times, and wallah, you have flavored water.

Taste:

At home I poured the entire contents of one of the On The Go packages into a large bottle of water, gave it a few shakes till it seemed that the powdered mix was completely dissolved, and I took my first sip.

I didn't hate it, but I knew off of the very first sip that there was no way I would be able to finish the entire bottle. The bottle I poured the packet into was rather large, but the little powdered packet packed a powerful fake grape flavoring to the water that was too sweet. After the initial sweet grape flavor, the aftertaste left behind is that of grape flavored splenda, which I didn't like much at all.

The flavor would not have been so terrible if it weren't for the aftertaste. I compare it to water down grape flavored pixie stix, with a few packets of splenda thrown in. A concoction a small kid would likely come up with in his kitchen if mom and dad were not supervising.

Overall:

I'm glad that I got the packets on sale for dirt cheap, because I'd be pretty disappointed had I bought them at full price. The other packets have gone unused, and will likely land in the trashcan very soon if no one in my family uses them.
