Yes ladies and gentleman, Halloween is coming, and for those of you who
go all out for the holiday are right now seeking the best Halloween
props and decorations to add to your house of horrors...or just your
house. However, in order to throw the Halloween party that people will
talk about for years, you have to have good props. Heck, you don't even
have to serve good food, but so long as your home is filled with all
sorts of spooky props for peoples eyes to view, they will have a good
time.
I'm sure all of you Halloween enthusiasts already have your fog
machines, and your screaming Cd's, but I am sure most of you don't have
the one prop that will have people scratching their heads and asking
questions. That one prop is a simple, cheap, and freaky display; it's
called an Alien In a Lab jar, and can be found almost anywhere on the
Internet. I bought mine about 4 years ago, and today thanks to the world
wide web, you too can add this awesome prop to your Halloween decor.
The Alien in a lab jar is a half gallon plastic jar. It is designed to
look as if it came fresh out of Area 51, with the sticker on the jar to
prove it. Also on the jar a toxic radioactive warning is labeled with
an orange sticker to warn those not to open it.
The alien is made out of a hard rock like material. My alien has sat
in his jar for 4 years in his yellow colored water without losing his
color, or creating cloudy water.
The jar will of course come empty, it is up to you to fill it up and
add red, green, or yellow food coloring. I went with yellow, and it
looks spectacular.
Some alien in lab jars come with a base light. The base light is
placed at the bottom of the jar and really will create a neat glowing
display. I usually place my alien in a window sill with the light on, so
people can see it from outside.
You can purchase this very alien in a lab jar at http://www.angelfire.com/vt/swalien1/labjar.htm.
Besides this alien though I have added a friend to my alien
collection. There are many aliens in jars for sale on the Internet, and
one little guy that looks so real you have to stop and view it for quite
some time to figure out if it is a dead alien or just a prop. This
alien in a jar that you can view here at http://aliens.monstrous.com/alien_in_jar.htm.
This alien comes in a smaller jar, and looks like he is asleep in his
jar. He is made out of the same thick material as the other alien
discussed, and can be purchased at www.ebay.com.
You can purchase many different types of aliens in jars at ebay. Some
are poorly constructed but still look really neat, and others look as if
they are actual real alien fetuses in jars.
Most though do not come with light bases, and making your own lighting
can sometimes be easier, cheaper, and look much better. Really all you
need is a small desk lamp with an adjustable neck, if you position the
lamp close to the jar, it really lights it up nicely giving it an eerie
effect.
Most aliens in jars will only cost around $20.00, so buying 2 of them,
or more is not that big of a deal. They make for excellent window
displays for Halloween parties, and guests are sure to get a kick out of
them.
