Everyone loves the commercial where the woman tosses her dogs old Loofa
toy into the trash and takes him to Petco to buy him a new one. The dog
loves the Loofa toy so much that the cashier has to ring the toy up with
it in his mouth because he refuses to put it down.
When I first saw this cute commercial, I wanted a Loofa toy for my
dog. They were just so cute, and the dog in the commercial apparently
loved his. Recently while we were at Petco we came across these adorable
dog toys. They came in small key chains sizes to large 2 foot long
ones. I wanted to 2 foot long one for our Bully, and a medium sized on
for Bubba.
The size though in the commercial was the medium size which is about
12 inches long. The toy has a build in squeaker in his belly, and we
discovered a second squeaker in the dogs nose.
We had the option to buy the Loofa Dog Toy in many colors, such as
red, blue, yellow, purple, green, and white. We bought the larger one in
yellow, and the regular 12 inch one in purple. The 12 inch Loofa came
to around $5.00, and the larger one was $8.00.
We brought them home and handed them off. Our dogs have always loved
toys, and love receiving new ones. Bully immediately took his, and Bubba
was excited to get one as well. However the little dog wanted the big
one, and it became quite the tug of war, with noses squeaking, and
stuffing flying, we watched as our little guy tried to do battle with
the big guy over the toy.
In the end the big Loofa ended up ripping, and having his guts come
out. It turned out this bigger Loofa Dog was built with cheaper material
than the smaller 12 inch Loofa. You could tell just by holding it, but
we were not expecting it to rip that easily. Oh well, $8.00 down the
drain.
The 12 inch Loofa withstood the test of time. The two were able to tug of war with this one, without it ripping or breaking.
Over time though the purple coloring to the Loofa began to fade, due
to the fact that Bully would bring it outside every once in awhile and
romp with it in the dirt. Drool, dirt, and God knows what else ended up
on that toy. After about a month we simply bought a few more of them.
The reason was because the dogs always chose the Loofa over their other
stuffed animals, and what we liked best about it was that two dogs could
tug of war with it at the same time without anyone getting bit or hurt
by accident. One dog would grab the Loofa Dogs face, and the other would
get his feet. Let the battle begin! Bully seems to always win, ad he
drags the little guys across the floor, seeing how he weighs about 35
pounds, and the smaller dogs who play with him, weigh in at about 8
pounds.
Overall, we have been satisfied with the regular sized Loofa Dogs.
They are able to take a long, hard beating, and the dogs have enjoyed
them ever since we brought the first one home.
The larger Loofa's though I would avoid, only because they are poorly
made compared to the standard commercial sized Loofa Dogs.
I would recommend the Loofa Dogs to any pet owner who has a dog that
enjoys carrying around stuffed animals. Like I said though, avoid the
larger Loofas or you will end up picking up stuffing all over the house.
You can purchase a Loofa Dog Toy at any local Petco, or online at their site at www.Petco.com. They are on sale now for $4.24.
