Ceramic Smoking Baby: Gag Gift Review

I found the Ceramic Smoking Baby about 8 years ago, and was surprised to see this bad baby for sale still today. I purchased my cigarette smoking baby in a joke shop in New York City, for $8.99 at the time. In the shop the clerk had one on display and smoking, and due to the weird display and weirdness of the whole smoking baby, I had to have him.
What is the ceramic smoking baby?
It's basically a small sitting ceramic baby. The baby has a hole in his mouth for you to place one of his 10 li'l smokes. Yep, he comes with a 10 pack of his own brand cigarettes. The cigarettes are actually small versions of unscented incense. You light the little cigarette in the same manner you would an incense stick.
The ceramic smoking baby comes seated, wearing nothing more than a white ceramic diaper. His eyes are painted blue, and in all honesty he looks more like a constipated alien than he does a smoking infant.
How well does he work?
Well he smokes doesn't he? He works actually quite well, however due to the fact that his cigarettes are so thin and small they burn out fast, and do not last long at all. Finding li'l smokes refill packs are close to impossible...and as a matter of fact I have never seen a refill li'l smokes incense pack before.
After the li'l smokes ran out, I would stick an incense stick in his mouth that worked just fine, but looked awkward.
In all honesty I bought him for novelty. He looks ridiculous with a long incense stick in his mouth, and without his small smokes, which are impossible to find, he is pretty much desktop junk.
Pros:
He looks neat, truly that is the only pro.
Cons:
-There are fire hazards involved, and you should never leave the li'l smoke lit while you are not in the room to watch it.
-The baby's lips also will burn eventually. My smoking baby's lips are charred, and what was once red lips are now brown and black.
-You will never be able to find li'l smokes to use on the smoking baby. Once the 10 smokes are gone, odds are you will not find a refill pack. (Not even in the store you bought the baby.)
Pricing and availability:
You can pick up the Smoking Ceramic Baby at any local joke shop. I have seen him in places such as Spencer's, and Hot Topic. You can purchase him online as well at www.baronbob.com for $6.95.
Recommendation:
As Borat would say..."Not so much-cha!"
I mean he is cool and all to look at while you have the actual li'l smokes, but once they run out the ceramic smoking baby sort of just sits there on your counter taking up space.
