I was really excited a few months ago when I heard about the latest Stuff Pack release coming from EA for The Sims 3.
At the same time though, I was skeptical on whether or not to buy it
because the stuff packs have been so dang mediocre, and I usually always
end up feeling like an idiot for ever blowing my $20.00 on said stuff
packs. At any rate though, I, like thousands of others am a fan of the
game in general, so I knew I'd be buying it regardless, and I knew, like
an idiot I am, I'd probably regret it.
Well, I was not too shocked when I ended up feeling once again, yanked of $20.00.
For you newbies out there, make a note that stuff packs are not
expansion packs, they do not offer any new game play, you get what the
title speaks: stuff.
Unfortunately stuff packs usually pack nothing more then re-modified
'stuff' we have already seen, such as new benches or things of that
nature.
Clothing in stuff packs also never impress, and Town Life is no
exception. You get some new outfits, but they are drab ugly things, that
you will likely never use, or even want to use.
Hairstyles are also added, but again, they are pretty ugly, and third
party modders, since the beginning of time have been making better
things for the game than the actual developers. That's just sad now, and
lazy on EA's part.
At any rate, I was not impressed with any of the stuff, or newly added
community buildings, which include a new library, a laundromat, and a
newly re-modded grocery store and a new park.
Had I been in charge of Town Life Stuff, I would have actually
included more things for the town, new lamp posts, a freaking funeral
home for Sims to visit when other Sims die. I have been asking for one
of these since the very first game though, so it's likely never going to
happen. My God, having Sim kids out trick or treating on Halloween,
would be awesome, but EA just sleeps at any advice given to them freely
from their fans.
Come on EA give us something, some sort of community/town events,
perhaps a frigging new years day party to take place at the town hall,
or just SOMETHING that makes leaving the Sim home worth wild.
I said it once, and I will say it again, The Sims could use a few tips
from Animal Crossings, which is like a 90's game, and yet Nintendo
managed to keep this silly concept of a game interesting by allowing
communities like this, and events that took place. A live timer which
took place in real time, with actual seasons passing.
Anyhow, when it comes to Sims 3 Town Life Stuff, this one is the big
enchilada of garbage, and in my opinion, one of the worst releases in
the entire stuff pack collection.
