Review Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt: Blueberry

It is so out of the norm for me to actually write a review on something as simple as yogurt, but I am the type of person who has to share the 411 whenever I find something totally worth telling other people about, and Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt is just that thing.

I came across it while browsing my local grocery stores dairy section and it stuck out due to it's abnormal large size.

Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt came in a larger bowl shaped cup. Lined on the shelves there was a small variety of flavors, and I went with blueberry because it's always been a favorite of mine for yogurt.

Now yogurt is usually something I only pick up when I absolutely crave it, which is not really often.

However when I saw this new breed of yogurt sitting on the shelves, I had to try it. I had to see what the difference would be compared to yogurt that I was used to. Plus I wanted to see what the cultural difference was. Would it be like standard yogurt American's are used to, or would this Greek yogurt have some sort of different texture, or odd flavor to it.

I got home and yanked the aluminum lid from the cup, and took a look inside. The yogurt was white in color, with a little bit of that nasty yogurt top water (I always drain this stuff). I realized that the blueberry fruit chunks were at the bottom, and I had to stir it up.

As I began stirring it up I realized that Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt was a hell of a lot thicker than the standard yogurts I used to buy. I was not too sure if I would hate the thicker texture, or if I would love it.

I took one taste, and it was the absolute best flavored yogurt I have ever had in my life, and that is no exaggeration.

The blueberry flavor is definitely there, but it is not as sugary and obvious as most yogurts. It has just the right amount of blueberry flavoring, without it overpowering the taste of the actual plain yogurt that you mix the blueberries into.

The best thing about the yogurt aside from the wonderful taste was the texture. The thick texture is creamy, and it is more like I was eating the filling of some sort of fancy imported foreign cream pie.

There is something even better than the best thing about the yogurt though, and that is the fact that Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt contains absolutely no fat whatsoever. Basically it is like you are eating some sort of delicious pasty filling, and you do not have to feel an ounce of guilt while doing so.

You can find it in either a 5.3 ounce container, or a larger 16 ounce container depending on where you shop. I was not able to locate this larger 16 ounce size though.

Pricing:

In my particular grocery store, one 5.3 ounce container of Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt is a lot more pricey than the normal 79 cent containers many of use are used to. However the price is higher for good reasons which you will find in the attached story on how Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt is made.

At any rate though, Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt came to two dollars and change.

Recommendation:

Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt is a treat that will be loved by just about anyone. It's new out of this world consistency, and unique delicious flavor makes this yogurt a must try.
