I had been using a crummy old office chair for a good decade now, and
after realizing this chair had finally served it's due, I decided to let
the old ragged thing retire.
I went to Target with a mission in mind. I needed a new office chair. A
large comfy one, one where I could lean back, adjust the seats height,
and one with a large enough butt pocket for me to be able to put up my
feet in an Indian style way. I am most comfortable writing this way, so
the need for an excessively large chair was unquestionable.
In my local Target the only office chairs they sell are from Targets
exclusive HOME brand of products. They only had around 5 to choose from,
and I knew I didn't want the cheap plastic one. I wanted one that
looked classy, one that looked expensive but was really affordable.
I went with the Black Leather Office Chair. It seemed to be just as
nice as their $90.00 chairs, and this particular one only came to
$59.99, and looked like it should really of cost $149.00.
The last one in the store too! I didn't hesitate, this chair was
coming home with me. It had a nice comfy large width, perfect for
putting my feet up under my legs, and perfect for any potential future
girth!
Appearance:
The leather chair says leather, but the back area is now real
leather, it's black nylon. The chair itself though has a leather seat,
so I assume they thought it counted when they decided to give this one
it's name.
Set Up:
I didn't set this one up, I made my boyfriend do it. It seemed to be
easy though because he had it done in less than 10 minutes.
Testing...testing...
I sat down on my newly built chair, and fell in love. It leans back
pretty far, and I was able to adjust the height of the chair, and I
could spin around and around. The seat itself was extremely comfortable,
and the arm rests were nice too. I would have though preferred the arm
rests to be padded, not just for warmth, but for comfort as well.
I had my beautiful chair for a good month, and then yesterday death came all too early for her.
Now my boyfriend is not fat, but according to this chair he is.
He sat down, and I watched as the chairs height, sunk down, down,
down. I thought he just adjusted the seats height. Unfortunately the
thing gave. The chair would no longer let me adjust it back up; it just
stood down.
I got upset! I mean not for nothing, $59.99 is not cheap! Hell, I
could have spent my money on a Goddamn video game for my PS3!
What sucked worse was that I no longer had the receipt, nor the box. I
guess I expected too much of this chair, because I had my ragged old
girl for nearly a decade, and she never gave out on me.
Sadly I thought I was doing my bum a favor by upgrading to a nice new office chair, and instead I got a nice hunk of crap.
If you are in Target, and you see this lovely tempting piece, walk
away; walk away from all of the Target HOME chairs, because if you look
closely you will see they are all made the same. To break.
I have no clue how I can even go about getting a refund, seeing that my receipt is gone, and the chairs box was thrown out.
