Food Review: Chobani Greek Yogurt, Blueberry

I've never been much of a yogurt eater, however after becoming completely addicted to Oikos Greek Yogurt, I have found myself buying Greek yogurt time and time again. The texture, and the fact that the yogurt is not as sugary makes it such a great treat. Most yogurts are just far too sugary tasting, and I never liked sugary yogurts.

Oikos was the usual Greek yogurt brand I'd pick up, but recently I came across another name brand of Greek Yogurt called Chobani Greek Yogurt. Naturally I wanted to give this brand a try to see how it would compare to Oikos.

I picked up blueberry flavor, because when eating yogurt blueberry tends to be the only flavor my tongue and my mind agree on.

Chobani Greek Yogurt comes in a very similar yogurt bowl like Oikos Greek Yogurt. The colors are even very similar, so if you don't look closely you could walk out with the wrong brand by accident, seeing that they are placed next to one another on shelves at grocery stores.

Not that picking up the wrong brand would make a difference though, because after actually taste testing the yogurt I came to the conclusion that they are nearly 100% the exact same. In fact I'd swear the same person made both brands.

Like Oikos, Chobani has that same creamy texture, with the blueberry fruit on the bottom. The thicker texture is absolutely delicious, and tastes much less sugary than a non Green yogurt. The blueberries at the bottom are very fresh, and add just the right amount of blueberry flavoring, without overwhelming the actual taste of the Greek yogurt, which is delicious by itself.

The creamy texture is so good that it actually reminds me more of a cream pie filling, than it does a healthy snack alternative.

Chobani has 0 fat, and 0 trans fat. It does contain 20g of sugar, 14g of protein, 1g of fiber, and 20g carbohydrates. Basically it is much healthier for you than your average runny textured sugar induced yogurt!

Overall:

Although I love, love, love Chobani Greek Yogurt, I find it to be a near replica of Oikos, which is actually just a few cents cheaper. So naturally I'd have to recommend you pick up Oikos, because you will save yourself a few cents, and even a few dollars if you buy these regularly.

Chobani Greek Yogurt came to around $2.49 per container, prices may vary though depending on where you live. To me though, the price is pretty high end for what I normally pay for regular yogurts, which is around 79 cents. The price though is well worth it.

Recommended?

Definitely. Do make sure though you buy the cheaper one, because their prices may vary, and both brands taste nearly the exact same, so really if you can save yourself some money, go for it.
Those who usually don't eat yogurt, will even love Chobani Greek Yogurt.
