My mother has bred dogs for nearly 10 years now. If you know, or you
yourself are a dog breeder, you well know that sometimes not all dogs
get homes, and you end up getting attached to one of the puppies from a
litter.
So yes I willingly, and freely admit we have 10 dogs of our own. 4
Chihuahuas, 4 yorkies, a border collie, and Tybalt the tyrant- a
Siberian husky. Hehe. I love all of them. (Except for the barking).
Usually when we buy dog food, or any dog treats we buy in bulk at costcos.
We came across Kraft Milk Bone Flavor Snacks, and figured we'd
buy a box seeing how they were the cheapest ones available, and how the
number of bones you got was much higher than any of the other bulk
boxes.
So here we go on our way home excited to let the dogs try this new treat. 10 dogs mind you, keep that in mind. Because later on we're going to get into statistics.
We unpack the 10 or 15 pound box from the trunk and have a hard time
opening this bulk box. A knife was the only option, in my opinion
opening any package with a knife is dangerous.
Anyhow, the box now opened, the dogs jumping up and down going wild,
their noses sniffing the air.
Usually anytime we go shopping we come
home with some sort of treat, so this dog dance is pretty much a ritual.
We hand the milk bones off one by one to each of the dogs. They take
them willingly, and happily. A few of the dogs dropped them the second
the taste hit their tongues. As fast as the milk bones were handed out,
they ended up on the floor untouched.
2 of the dogs actually kept their bones for awhile, till finally
Beanie discarded hers as well, after carrying it around for a good
minute or so.
However Tybalt; the husky, was the only dog who actually liked it, and
finished it, then made her way over to the ones left on the floor by
the other dogs.
So there you have it, dog tested statistics! A marvelous 1 out of 10 dogs prefer milk bones.
We were pretty disappointed to see these results, but once the box is
opened... especially the way we cut through it; there was no way of
returning it. So $20.00 wasted at Costco's for one spoiled dog. Hah!
There were 5 different colored bones inside of the box. Only they
looked like they should of all been a light brown, and the colored ones
had been once been a light brown, but now were dyed. The box claims that
each has its own flavor, but from the looks (old and stale), and smell of it, they all looked the same with no difference in flavor. No... I didn't taste it... I'm assuming.
You can buy Kraft Milk Bone Flavor Snacks in a variety of sizes,
ranging from small to large. It's all the same ingredients, only a
bigger or smaller bone.
I wouldn't buy them again. Not because they're old looking, but just
because my dogs don't prefer them. We buy the dog treats to give them
when they are good. We don't give treats like this to make them think
they were bad.
And for any of you whom have never seen a dog give you this disappointed "look"- like,- "What on earth did you just give me?" Give your dog a milk bone. The look you get is actually quite funny, so that's a plus. I suppose.
