As a child, Junior Mints were probably the only candy my mom would allow
me and my brother to have. She didn't allow chocolate bars, or hard
suckers because she thought they were bad for us. For some reason
though, she allowed us to have Junior Mints as an alternative to 'bad
candy' as she called them.
As I grew up though, I introduced myself to these bad candies, and never ever really cared to go for a box of Junior Mints.
This past weekend however I saw something down the Christmas isles in
my local Target that I actually wanted to try. Besides picking up a box
for myself though, I also bought a few more to use for stocking
stuffers. Mom would definitely be getting one of these.
Junior Mints Peppermint Crunch!
They looked delicious, and the box was all festive looking and done up
to attract Junior Mints fans, and non fans alike. At any rate though,
they looked cute, and seeing that I hadn't really touched a Junior Mint
since I was a kid, I figured these nice new limited editions would be
satisfying, but not as familiar.
The box of Junior Mints, Peppermint Crunch is done up in a nice red
color, with the official Junior Mints logo on the upper left corner done
in green text, and the middle of the box of course is the limited
edition flavor 'peppermint crunch' written in white text. Just below
that there is a picture of the peppermint crunch junior mints.
They look relatively normal to a regular Junior Mint, only these
clearly have some sort of red speckles on the outer chocolate shell.
At home, I opened the box and spilled a few of them into my palm.
The Junior Mints, Peppermint Crunch are ordinary to Junior Mints
standards. A small mishapped round blop of chocolate, with a white minty
middle. These though have red speckles on them, which look like small
shards of candy cane chips.
Flavor:
Junior Mints, Peppermint Crunch tastes good, but are very familiar to
their originals. The small candy cane like red flecks add a harder
texture to the outer shell, but relatively they taste pretty much exact
to regular Junior Mints.
Overall the Junior Mints, Peppermint Crunch are good, and would make
an excellent stocking stuffer for just about anyone. The festive box
makes them gift worthy, and the low price of just $1.50 a box, is pretty
much worth it as a little sweet extra for someone on your gift shopping
list. Plus if your a Junior Mints fan, you will appreciate them as
well.
I personally though wished they would have done something a little
more different and bold. Possibly a red and white chocolate outer shell
would have been more exciting, but this is a pretty good start for
Junior Mints, who never really change up anything.
At any rate though, Junior Mints, Peppermint Crunch are limited
editions, so if you don't find them soon, you won't find them at all,
and you can never be too sure if they will make an appearance next year
either.
