I have been chowing down on Fiber One bars for around 3 months now. I
find that they satisfy my cravings, and allow me to stick to my diet
without feeling hungry. One Fiber One bar, and I am good to go till
dinner time. I absolutely loved their chocolate chip bars, and when I
came across a flavor of Fiber One bars I had never seen before I was
pretty excited to give it a try.
Fiber One - Oats and Apple Streusel Bars looked
delicious on the boxes cover, and seeing that every other Fiber One bar I
have ever had I loved, I thought that this would be yet another flavor I
could add to the collection of bars I'd find myself eating on a
constant.
The bars themselves are not much different looking. I removed the
Fiber One - Oats and Apple Streusel Bar from the green foiling it came
in, and instead of the usual chocolate or peanut butter drizzle that is
on top of my favorite Fiber One bars, the Fiber One - Oats and Apple
Streusel Bars had white icing drizzle in it.
I could clearly see dried out pieces of actual apples inside of the bar, with a nice load of oats, and puffed rice.
After examining the bar, and taking in it's yummy apple aroma, I took a bite and...
NEARLY BROKE MY GODDAMN TOOTH!
The Fiber One - Oats and Apple Streusel Bars are just about as hard as
peppermint brittle. I was shocked that this alleged "chewy bar" was
this hard.
After nearly snapping my front tooth off, I spit out the chunk in my
mouth and handed the bar over to my boyfriend. He will eat just about
anything, and I figured he wouldn't mind the hard rock like consistency
that the bar had.
He struggled to get a piece of the bar off and into his mouth. I
watched him chew it like it was molasses, and spit it out. I guess after
getting through the hard bar, the taste begins to present itself to the
chewer.
He said it was not 'bad' but he didn't like it that much.
I decided to try biting into the bar again to taste it for the sake of my review.
I lightly bit into the bar this round, avoiding chomping down with my front teeth like I did earlier.
After yanking a chunk of the bar off, I chewed, and chewed...and
chewed some more. The flavor of apples and icing were obvious, but it
was far from spectacular like Fiber One's other delicious, easy to chew
bars.
Overall:
Personally I would never buy these again. I paid $3.50 for a box of 6
at my local grocery store, and there are still 5 bars left over that no
one will eat. I will from here on out stick to their Peanut Butter, and
Chocolate Chip bars.
It's really a shame about it, because these could have been a really
nice healthy bar had it not been so stiff and unlike other Fiber One
bars. This bar is something I'd expect from Slim Fast bars, not Fiber
One.
