I've been waiting for my hair dryer to come in the mail, my brother took it upon himself to destroy my last hair dryer.
I loved that dryer so much I re-ordered another one online. Sadly
though, when you order things online, you don't get instant
satisfaction. There is this little thing called 'snail mail', and I
likely won't see that new dryer for another week or so.
While I wait though, I have been using my moms hair dryer, Hot Tools 1875 Watt Professional Styler Dryer, Model 1099N.
When I asked to borrow her dryer, I truly was not expecting her to
hand me this odd shaped hair dryer.
I personally had never seen a dryer
quite like it. It looked as if it was missing it's nose or something.
In my opinion the Hot Tools 1875 Watt Professional Styler Dryer, Model 1099N
looks like a very large futuristic hair brush. I had the option to use 3
different styling attachments. Seeing how I have thick hair though, I
skipped on using the attachable styling combs, simply because I knew
they'd just get stuck in my hair.
For those with thin hair, I imagine that these attachment combs would
be neat for styling. One of the combs is a styling brush, which attaches
to the dryer, and allows you to brush your hair while you apply heat.
Another comb is a wide detangling comb, and the last one is a fine
finishing comb. I find that if you have thin hair you would easily be
able to get straight results using these combs as you blow dry.
My Use:
I plugged the Hot Tools 1875 Watt Professional Styler Dryer, Model
1099N in, and set it to high setting. With my hair being really short
now, I hoped the dryer would dry it in just a few short minutes, like my
last dryer had.
As I hit the highest setting of heat, the dryer mad a loud squealing
noise. I thought it was broken or something. Which scared me, because I
was not ready to replace yet another dryer.
The dryer worked...it only was really loud, and makes a painful noise when first turned on.
Air Shot:
After noticing the dryer is loud, I also noticed that the air comes
out of it in an odd manner. I would think that seeing how it had a large
area for air to blow from, it would blow all sorts of glorious fast
drying warm air. Unfortunately though air seemed to only shoot out of
one small side area of the dryer.
It felt weird in my hands trying to
maneuver the dryer around to figure out the precise point that air was
being blown from.
I consider this a con.
Dry Time:
I have very, very thick hair, and I know when I use a good dryer
versus a crappy one. Crappy ones will take nearly 20 minutes to fully
dry my hair. Excellent dryers take less than 10 minutes.
The Hot Tools 1875 Watt Professional Styler Dryer, Model 1099N,
actually surprised me. With its horrendous screeching noise, and it's
odd method of shooting out air, I imagined the dryer would take half a
century to fully dry my thick hair.
In about 8 minutes, my hair was fully dry, from root to tip. Not bad for such a rickety thing.
Overall:
I'm not 100% in love with the Hot Tools 1875 Watt Professional Styler Dryer, Model 1099N.
I find that it is very noisy, the air shoots out in a weird manner, and
the dryer in general feels cheap; however, it also dries hair really,
really fast, so it does have a plus.
Pricing:
You can purchase the Hot Tools 1875 Watt Professional Styler Dryer,
Model 1099N online, or in stores where Hot Tools are sold. I'm not sure
how much my mom spent on her dryer, but I was able to locate it online
for around $25.00.
Recommended?
I would recommend this particular model, because although it has it's
cons, it does the job, and it does it quickly. I find this little handy
tool to be perfect for those in a rush.
