Shopping for me is a form of therapy, and escape from a busy (or boring)
work day. It gets the blood flowing; and I, like a lion on the hunt for
the perfect piece to satisfy the hunger am always on the prowl.
I leave
when I'm satisfied, and full.
Nothing sucks more than thinking you found the perfect 'IT' item, then you get home and feel like you have just been taken.
I have had my eye on a COACH Hampton's Signature Dot Ponytail Scarf.
I'm a sucker for name brand, what can I say. Not only that though, I
always see my favorite reality star Lauren Conrad wearing these
interesting hair scarves, and they always look great on her.
After looking up this ponytail scarf online at the official COACH
website, and learning that is came to a jaw dropping $38.00, I stood
clear of it. I tried day in and day out to tell myself I needed it; but
the penny pincher in me told me to skip. So I skipped for quite some
time.
Last night however my boyfriend and I took his mother out to dinner,
which conveniently is located right next to the mall. My poison. Keep me
away.
I initially went into the mall for a quick pick up of some eyeshadow
at MAC... I somehow ended up in COACH though, and I knew exactly what I
wanted. Like a true pro.
"Scuzzze me, you wouldn't happen to have a COACH Hampton's Signature Dot Ponytail Scarf?" (I felt like Ralphie in a Christmas Story, describing his Official Red Ryder BB Gun).
She brought me to the rack of COACH Ponytail Scarves, and low and
behold there it was. A beautiful piece of ummm.... fabric. Errr...for
$40!?
I didn't think about it at the time, but right now I totally regret
dropping that much money on a freaking piece of fabric. See it wouldn't
of been soooo terrible if the ponytail holder actually had some 'hold'.
I grabbed it, as if it were the last one in existence, and before I knew it I was rung up and sent on my merry little way.
At home I removed the piece of fabric (which is 100% silk by the way),
which was wrapped in tons of paper, and even bagged in a gorgeous lil'
COACH gift bag. They truly want to make sure you feel like you got a
good deal. All of this paper for a frigging 35 inch long piece of silk.
I held it in my hands. It sure as heck felt nice. Like a shimmery
slithering snake; I will say that no matter how ripped off I felt, the
Ponytail Scarf did indeed feel nice. However I still couldn't shake the
$40.00 price tag.
I loved the official COACH (C) logo that was strewn all over the
scarf, and I loved the back of the scarf. It had adorable brown polka
dots all over it. All in all it reminded me of a mans suit tie, (only
for my hair).
I wished that the scarf was longer, that way when I tied a headband
into my hair, the tail would flow down with my hair, and at least make
it visible. At 35 inches long though, this just was not happening. I
tied it into my hair, knotted it in the back and the ties were concealed
by my hair. My hair is short too, I recently just chopped it off and
donated it.
I loved the look, the scarf itself is 2 inches thick, so when you tie
it into your hair in a headband type style the COACH logo's stick out,
for the world to read. 'Yes, she has a COACH hair tie... she is SOMEBODY' (well that's what us designer junkies like to think the world is thinking. Only they are not).
So I was impressed at how nice it looked in my hair, still though the $40.00 tag just sickened me. I was afraid to even touch it!
Cons:
I had the COACH Hampton's Signature Dot Ponytail Scarf and noticed a
very itsy bitsy tiny thread hanging from the side of the scarf. This
totally pissed me off, because from what I have heard, name brands like
COACH are meticulous when sewing their products. If there is a loose
thread, they consider it a fake! There it was though a frigging loose
thread.
Dare I pull it?
Yes, I'm dumb. Let me just give it a light.... uh oh! The small tug of
the thread sent a stretch mark right through the entire width of the
material. I stopped of course, and cut it. Now though, I have a stretch
mark in my $40.00 Ponytail Scarf! Crap-olla!
This wasn't the only issue I had with the COACH Hampton's Signature Dot Ponytail Scarf.
The scarf is after all made of silk, which means no matter how tight
you tie it to your bulging head, it is still going to glide around,
loosen up, and eventually fall out.
Seriously this $40.00 hair tie, or scarf, what have you... should be
an easy little hair accessory for you to just tie in and not have to
worry about. However this damn piece of fabric is high maintenance, and
is more work than it is worth.
Wearing it for just a few hours and you will find yourself running to a
mirror to once again tighten it and put it back in place. Its just
straight up annoying.
My COACH Hampton's Signature Dot Ponytail Scarf is going back to the
store that I picked it up in. It was the biggest waste of money I've
ever spent. The thing has loose threads, it's too short, and it does not
stay put, no matter how tight you tie it.
I purchased the COACH Hampton's Signature Dot Ponytail Scarf in the brown color. There are 5 colors in all. For photo click here.
Recommended:
No. If you truly, truly want a COACH Ponytail Scarf, I recommend their
oblong ones. They are much longer, and easier to work with.
