Everyone knows the age old saying, 'you don't know what you got till it's gone' right?
Well pretty much this is the hidden meaning behind the movie Big Girls Don't Cry... They Get Even.
Laura is a young girl who's mother married into a rich family. Laura's
mother has had many marriages, and Laura was expecting this one not to
work out either. Unfortunately for her, the marriage is solid, and Laura
is stuck living with her new family.
Laura's mother has grown more in love with the new rich lifestyle,
while ignoring her nearly completely. Laura's step sister is her
complete opposite. Girly and very pampered, while Laura is more of your
Tom boy type of girl. Cute, but not very girly, so naturally her and her
step sister do not get along. In fact the only step sibling Laura
actually gets along with is Josh, whom now lives away from the family on
his own.
When Josh stops in for a secret visit and leaves, Laura decides to run
away by hiding out in his truck cabin till they got to their
destination.
The family is now angry because instead of taking their vacation to
Hawaii, they now have to go looking for Laura. Josh phone calls home to
let them known Laura was with him.
As soon as they arrive and spot Laura, she takes off running into the
mountain forest where she becomes a runaway. During her flee, she runs
into quite a few interesting and dangerous situations. In ways it was
supposed to be some sort of life altering adventure, but really the
events that unfold are squeezed in a little bit too tight, and not that
entertaining.
Without ruining anything in between, or the ending, I figured I may as well go ahead with how I felt about the movie.
Big Girls Don't Cry...They Get Even, was just a sub par flick. It had
some humorous funny moments, and other parts just seemed to drag on. The
movie though was not mind numbingly boring, it just had it's moments
where it could have been better, and the acting could have been more
believable.
The ending was the total deal killer for me though, with a fast stop
to the movie, and no emotional moments, when clearly there should have
been one.
There was a romance toward the mid-ending involving a pregnant woman,
and Josh. Honestly it had no place being in the flick, nor did it add
anything but length to the movie.
All in all, Big Girls Don't Cry...They Get Even, would score 2.5 stars out of 5 from me. Just OK folks.
