Review: 7.5" Mini Starlight Sphere - Beautiful Christmas Lights for Your Home

I first came across the Mini Starlight Sphere last year around Christmas time. A local farmers market had about 50 of them hanging from their farm stand ceilings, you could see these babies all the way down the road.
I immediately fell in love with the blue Starlight Spheres, and wanted 2 of them to hang from each side of our front door awning. The glow these spheres gave off were spectacular...so bright and colorful that it seemed to make your eyeballs jump.
How It's Made:
From a distance it appears that the entire ball is lit up. What gives off this impression though are 100 blue lights which are stuck into a styrofoam ball. The lights have a star burst plastic ring around them which actually disperses the light to appear larger and brighter than what it actually is.
I discovered that these Starlights were made from a ball of styrofoam after one of my star rings fell off. Hehe.
Quality:
They are not the greatest lights in the world, and they are constructed pretty poorly, as our began falling apart the second we put it up. We had 3 or 4 of the blue plastic star rings fall off of the sphere. They were extremely easy to clip back in though, so as long as you don't crush them while looking for them on the ground, you should be okay.
-Take caution when touching the spheres, the plastic star bursts are sharp and could cut you.
Pricing:
I have seen the Starlight Spheres range in price depending on the time of year. Right now with Christmas right around the corner expect to spend anywhere from $10-$16...if you pay any more you're being jacked.
The spheres also range in size, and tossing in assorted sizes really gives off a neat look to your home.
What I love mostly about the spheres is that they give off the illusion of floating. In the dark you cannot see the wires, and the spheres hang with thin fishing wire. I think that is the best thing about the Starlight Spheres.
You can buy them in assorted sizes, and colors. Some even come with multiple colored bulbs.
Where To Buy:
I have seen these Starlight Spheres available at farm stands, super stores, and Home Depot.
They are beautiful Christmas lights, that appear to be more of an illusion than a light, I cannot recommend them more.
Tips-
Buying a red, white and blue sphere also makes for a beautiful light display during the 4th of July. Orange and purple ones can be hung up for Halloween, and so on.
