Command Force Chopper Patrol Light & Sound - Cobra: Toy Review

This past Christmas I got my boyfriend a slew of stupid presents that I thought he'd have fun with. The past few years I ended up buying him serious, yet useful things. This year though I wanted to add some fun under the Christmas tree, and this is why I ended up coming home with the Command Force Chopper Patrol Light & Sound - Cobra.

Basically it is a chopper that you can fly about through the air. When I looked in the box I noticed the simple control panel that was attached to the base where the chopper sat.

It had a forward stick, and a side to side stick. This allows you to move the chopper in any direction you please. When I took a close look I noticed a thin wire attached to the chopper and the base.

I assumed that this wire came off when you took the chopper out of the box, because on the back of the box it showed the chopped in the air without this ridiculous wire.

I figured it was a free flying chopper. Pictures can be deceiving, and the photo truly pissed me off when on Christmas day my boyfriend opens the box, and we come to learn that this stupid wire is attached at all times!

I still need to write the company about that deceiving photo on the back of the box!

Anyhow...

Although the Command Force Chopper Patrol Light & Sound - Cobra was not quite what I thought it was, he still took it out to give it a try.

He pressed forward on the remote, and we all watched as this chopper attempted to take flight. It got about 3 inches off of the base it was attached to, and nothing more.

How ridiculous!
The Command Force Chopper Patrol Light & Sound - Cobra also came with 2 plastic crates that you are able to attach to the bottom of the chopper. However it barely got 4 inches off the ground, there was no way in hell this thing would be able to lift a plastic crate.

We attached it, and tried making flight again. This time it managed to get about 2 inches off of the ground.

What else sucks?

The fact that when in flight the chopper will sometimes crash back into the base. The crash is never a hard or damaging crash because it is after all only 4 inches off of the ground.

Once you get the chopper off of the ground it pretty much flies in a circle because it is attached to the metal wire. You really don't have much control over the flight pattern.

Overall:

The Command Force Chopper Patrol Light & Sound - Cobra came in packaging that convinced me the metal wire could come off of the chopper. I thought when I bought it, that it was one of those cool new chopper RC's. The price of $19.99 told me that it was, and so did the photo on the back of the box.

What I got though was a chopper that barely made flight, and was attached to a base with a metal rod that did not allow me to have full control over it.

What really got to me was the fact that I bought both the large version and the mini version. Both worked in the same manner. The smaller chopper though was able to get higher in the air then the larger one.

Either way though the Command Force Chopper Patrol Light & Sound - Cobra is over priced, and does not work quite the way one first thinks when they see it.

I purchased mine at our local KBEE Toys, and it's back in the box still waiting for me to return it.
