Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter WUSB54GC Add Wireless Internet to that Old PC or Laptop

My mom has been annoying me non-stop to get her old hand me down computer on to the internet. At first I thought this task would be a tedious time consuming job. I even thought about just taking the dang thing to Best Buy and pay the Geek Squad $150 or more to hook it up for her.

Browsing the net earlier today though, I came across an even simpler solution.

A Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter WUSB54GC seemed to be the ultimate solution. I hesitated at first, thinking there was no way this itty USB adapter would work.

On my way home though I stopped by my local Radio Shack and came across the Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter WUSB54GC for a decent price only $49.99. I figured if it worked, then bravo...if it didn't I'd just pack the thing back up and get a refund.

The Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter WUSB54GC comes with the actual USB adapter which is leek, wide, and has your standard USB plug. It also came with a CD and instruction manual.
I hate instructions, and figured I was computer savvy enough to plug this thing right in and get it up and running. To my surprise it was seriously that simple.

First I placed the installation CD into the disc and waited for it to install, next I simply plugged in the USB Adapter, and waited for the ancient PC to recognize it. After that was all said and done, a screen popped up with available wireless networks. Looking through the list of wireless networks and came across my own. Next all I had to do was enter my networks secured private WEB/WEP key and hit enter.

No less than a minute later we were up and running. I truly and honestly did not think that the Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter WUSB54GC would work, especially as easily and quickly as it did.

My wireless network is set up downstairs in the basement, and I did not think that her PC being upstairs would have a strong enough signal to connect, low and behold though the Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter WUSB54GC had a decent enough strength connection to allow her to be breezing the net.
I highly, highly, highly recommend the Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter WUSB54GC to anyone looking to hook up an old PC to their already available wireless network.

Now the only thing that weirds me out is the fact that my mom has asked to be my friend on myspace! Haha!
