PC Game Review: The Sims 2 Ikea Home Stuff Pack

I love The Sims 2, however, mostly what I love about the Sims, is the fact that I can find and download user created content for use in my game. Now, I wouldn't have to do this if Maxis would just deliver some content worth a damn.

Yet stupid me, I continue to buy their Stuff packs thinking that maybe, just maybe, Maxis will finally hit the nail and deliver the goods.

Stuff packs don't bring any new game play to the game, all they deliver is a few new items for the Sims homes. Pack after pack I have been wildly disappointed with the garbage Maxis has delivered (don't even get me started on the Teen Stuff pack).

Sims 2 Ikea Home Stuff delivered the same junk Maxis has been throwing at fans since the first 'stuff' pack hit shelves. By now though one would think that Maxis would have at least cut the price down to a fair $9.99. Nope! I slapped down a cool $20.00 for Sims 2 Ikea Home Stuff Pack, thinking that maybe it would be worth my wild.

So what do us Sim fans get?

Oh let's see...

First we get a very cool plastic box, with cool furniture and text that simply makes us feel all warm and fuzzy. The Ikea logo is right smack on this plastic box's paper insert, and it makes us think we will be getting some high quality beautiful looking items for out Sim families.

Inside we get a small flier with an attempt to get us excited about February 2009's upcoming release of Sims 3. Underneath that we have a black and white instruction manual for the Ikea Home pack, and on the other side of course, we have our large primitive looking CD. (Yes, CD's are totally starting to look primitive to me lately. Oh new technology, when cometh thee?)

Now before even bothering to upload the game, if you take a look into the manual that comes with the game you will find 4 or so pages with items on the pages. Take a close look, because that's all you will be getting. Unfortunately I was so 'un'thrilled with the contents that I didn't even want to upload the pack into my PC. I figured I'd spare my computer some space.

I went ahead anyway for this reviews sake, and uploaded the game into my PC.
What I got in my game...

Some cruddy, unfabuluos new items. Items include bland tables, the new Ikea furniture was far too large, so it made the game look stupid, and wrong. Most Stuff packs have this problem. The size does not match the home, and it just ends up looking ridiculous.

Then we have some more bland tables, some ugly end tables, some really stupid looking entertainment units, a desk, drawer table thing that is crooked and does not look right in the game. It's meant to be oh so 'modern', but it just looks out of place in the game.

What else... Oh, some floor lamps, table lamps, all looking like ridiculous flat squared out pieces of tin blah.

Gosh, nothing even sticks out as good, that's truly how sad Sims 2 Ikea Home Stuff is.

All in all I recommend you skip on this one, and wait for the Sims 3 to hit shelves this February 2009.

I'm not 100% sure if this is Sims 2 last stuff pack, because their final expansion pack was Apartment Life, and that one disappointed as well. If this is the last stuff pack, it's the worst one, and a kick in the balls to Sims fans. The only thing we can do is hope and pray that the Sims 3 delivers everything fans have been wanting since the original game released back in 2000.
