This Sleeping Beauty doll by Barbie, is one from a collection known as the children's story book collection. I believe Sleeping Beauty is one of 5 different collectors story book Barbie's.
I am not much of an expensive Barbie collector but for some reason
this beauty caught my eye. I admired this doll as I stared her down in
the glass case they caged her in at Toys R' Us.
I couldn't figure out if it was those gorgeous sad looking eyes, as if
saying 'rescue me', or it was those long, long locks of honey golden
hair, curled up like Shirley Temple, that told me I needed to buy her.
Sadly though, I could not take her home with me today, because the
poor doll in the glass case was not available, and the manager wouldn't
allow me to purchase the display model; as they called her.
I walked by slowly, and gave her a last glance. She could not be mine; not today, but soon.
I went home and found her online at www.ebay.com for nearly 30% less than what the toy store wanted for the doll.
When Sleeping Beauty Barbie was shipped, I opened the box and smiled
as I saw Sleeping Beauty looking at me once again with those big sad
blue eyes.
Appearance:
Sleeping Beauty is gorgeous. She comes with a beautiful blue dress,
like the one in the book. The dress has a golden lace that looks as if
it has danced around the blue fabric.
Sleeping Beauty also comes with a small rose which she holds in her hand. She is captivating, and beautiful.
I contemplated on whether or not I should take her out of her box. I
knew that if I left her in the box her value would increase, but I also
knew I would not be able to enjoy her as much as if she were taken out
and put on display.
Sleeping Beauty Barbie came with a stand that says 'Sleeping Beauty'
where she can stand on it for display. The stand hooks around her waist
for security. I posed her in the pose I thought she looked best in, and
placed her on my dresser, where she now resides.
For Children?
This Barbie doll can be given to a child, but honestly she is more of a
collectors piece. She is meant to be looked at, and not touched. Looked
at, and not played with. If you are going to buy her for a young child
at least make sure they take care of her; as she will be one expensive
collectors doll down the line.
Finding Sleeping Beauty:
I have only seen her available on www.ebay.com and www.amazon.com. Her price of course varies. I have seen her for sale as low as $9.99.
Recommendation:
Of course, how could I not recommend this lovely doll!?
