Review of Lewis N. Clark Waterproof Multi Purpose Pouch Large Review

The Lewis N. Clark Waterproof Multi Purpose Pouch Large is basically a waterproof clear pouch that you can submerge underwater. Whatever contents you have inside the pouch will stay dry. Some users of the pouch use this to place their digital cameras in to take underwater photos with.

Seeing how my Olympus 1030SW is already a waterproof camera, I really did not NEED the Lewis N. Clark Waterproof Multi Purpose pouch Large, but I did want it for extra protection of my camera for when I do take it underwater with me. I figured the safer the camera, the more likely it will live a longer life.

Seeing how my boyfriend and I are planning our first trip to the Bahama's, I wanted to make sure I had all of the necessities before boarding flight. To me, the Lewis N. Clark Waterproof Multi Purpose pouch Large seemed like a necessity, if not for my camera, for other things such as my passport and ID.

I picked the pouch up on Amazon.com for $7.99, which seemed like a sweet deal, especially after reading all of the user reviews, and finding not one bad review, I felt it was a great deal, and a great product.

Appearance:

On the website the Lewis N. Clark Waterproof Multi Purpose pouch Large, is made of waterproof vinyl, with a rectangular middle area that is 100% clear. The surrounding area of the pouch has a transparent blue tint to it. It sort of looks like a thin vinyl frame, clear in the middle, and blue frame around the sides.

The pouch has a wrist string for you to use to tote your belonging around with ease, and two extra protecting yellow buttons to make sure nothing falls out even if the seal were to break (which likely it won't).

Appearance In Person:

The pouch resembled the sites photos of the pouch to a tee. I examined the pouch, and was pretty surprised at the thick quality of the pouch. I knew it would withstand quite a few years of rugged play, and likely wouldn't tear unless I tried to tear it.

One thing that disappointed me though was the placement of the tie string. It resides on the opposite side of the seal. I don't really trust carrying my camera in it, knowing that if the seals do happen to pop open... that my camera can smack the ground.

Now its unlikely that the seals will open. They consist of 3 sandwich baggie type seals, only made of thick vinyl. With those 3 seals shut and the two buttons that hold the seals together, its doubtful it will pop open... however I'm sure it won't go unheard of. It would just suck to have it pop open and have your things spew out on concrete.

My Use:

Seeing how I am far from being in the Bahama's as of now, I decided to take this pouch into the pool with me to test it out. I plopped my camera into the pouch, and flung it into the water. I took photos, and after about an hour came out of the water to dry the pouch off before opening it.

When I did open the seal, I removed my camera to see if it were 100% dry. Low and behold the pouch kept my camera dry. Sadly though the pouches clear window pane casted a bright white light on all of my photos, which sucked.

Overall:

I do not recommend you take underwater photos with this pouch, as the quality of the photos will be damaged with a white annoying light, and not all cameras should be toted in the water, even if the pouch description says otherwise.

I do however recommend this to those looking for extra protection to their electronics. My camera is already waterproof, but the Lewis N. Clark Waterproof Multi Purpose Pouch Large adds even more extra protection, and will make it easier for me to tote along while snorkeling in the water. For me the pouch has become the cameras carry case, and it works well.

All in all, for the price paid, it's a pretty sweet investment. An excellent investment for the camera that you will bring along with you to the beach.
