Show Review: Laguna Beach, Season 2 DVD

What can I say; I have an obsession with drama, not my own drama, but complete strangers dramas. I don't really have a very eventful life, so digging into these cool reality shows satisfies my craving for drama, and voyeurism.

I was at one time a huge fan of The OC because the drama was always high. But when the characters began to take on brand new personalities, that they had when season one aired, I needed change, I needed something more real.

That's when I met up with the beautiful girls of Laguna Beach. They're all rich (even the poor ones), they're all beautiful, and they are all mean! What more could I ask for?

I started up with season 2. Totally missing season 1. (Yeah it's so good you don't even need to know what went on in season 1 to begin to follow this drama, however you may want to rent or buy season 1 just to see what went on before hand).

So, What Is Laguna Beach About?

Well if you are a fan of The OC then it's easy to say it's just like that, only it's real. It's the real lives of real people doing their everyday thing. Living.

They're back!

LC, Stephan, Dieter, Morgan, Kristen, Alex M. and Alex H., Cedric, and some new characters somehow got mixed in as well. Jason, Taylor and Casey.

Even though Kristen (last seasons villain) is the narrator of the show, the entire show seemed to follow Jason and Jessica around more than any of the other past season characters. Jason and Jessica have the most issues, so they make for good air time.

Anyhow, let me introduce you to some of the cast of Laguna Beach Season 2:

KRISTEN AND LC:
Yep they still have that love to hate you relationship. Kristen hates LC for trying to steal Stephan's affections in season 1.

LC hates Kristen for stealing her best friend; Stephan.

It's sort of like 'he's mine now, so you guys can't be friends anymore.' According to Kristen anyway.
Not that I blame her. I wouldn't want my boyfriend hanging out with LC the blond bombshell either. She's probably the hottest broad in all of Laguna.

The drama between the two in this season though is at an all time low. They're no longer the focus of attention, like I had said earlier. Its all about...

JESSICA AND JASON:

You see Jessica is in mad love with Jason; perhaps even obsessed with him. They're dating. You watch as Jason treats her like garbage during one episode, and the next he is all over her and in love with her again. Seriously I think this dirt bag is bi-polar.

He cheats on her throughout the show, and you want to seriously jump through the TV and smack her. I honestly still can't figure out why she allowed him to treat her like that. Love is blind I suppose.

Although he was a dirt bag to her for the majority of the making of the show...she was always stupid enough to keep going back for more. The reason why I wanted to smack her, and not so much the pig.

Over and over again you watch as Kristen and her friends tell Jessica she can't trust him, and over and over again Jessica ignores all advice and keeps going back to him, and obsessing over him.

LC AND STEPHAN:

In season 2 I thought they'd finally hook up, and things look promising as Stephan seems to pay LC a lot of attention now that him and Kristen (his ex) are 'just friends'.

LC who has been clearly in love with him since season 1 yet never could get him to pay her any mind because of his obsession with Kristen loves this new attention.

But things go sour when LC finds out Stephan and Kristen have met up and rekindled a small flame in their relationship.

Even though Stephan hanging out with Kristen again disappoints LC, his real intentions were to get with LC. However plans go south because of this newcomer Jason. Read on...

LC also has decided to come back home for college instead of staying in San Francisco. So she becomes more present in season two towards the middle of the show. She once again becomes the main focus...but that's more near the mid-end of the season.

ALEX M. AND JASON-

Alex M is probably the biggest bully of the girls this season. I wouldn't want her chasing after me. She is a thick chick with a huge Rosie O' Donnell type personality. She's loud; she's mean, and her voice... AHHHH...... ears suddenly bleeding. Yet she can sing well, go figure!?
She is also Jason's newest love interest. You will watch as he ditches Jessica throughout the season to spend time with Alex.

You will also watch the drama that unfolds between her and Jessica over him.

LC AND JASON:

Jason breaks up with Alex when someone spreads a rumor she's got some 'diseases' down below. This is when his eye wanders on over to LC.

He for the first time the entire season seemed genuinely in love with someone. LC.

I mean who wouldn't fall for her? She is by far the best looking babe in Laguna. So when the two meet and share an instant attraction you begin to think they will make for a great couple.

You even begin rooting for them, but would you look at that, Jason has brought along some excess baggage. His ex.

Stephan is upset that the two are a couple. He keeps saying it is because Jason is a dirt bag, but in reality you can tell he wanted to be with her.

2 minutes too late.

JASON AND JESSICA ... AGAIN...

So while he is acting all in love with LC, Jason also has kept his ex Jessica on the side. Nothing major at first, the two are just flirty. For some reason though he has grown attracted to her again.

Bravo, Jason manages to break yet another heart, LC's. She actually catches them kissing at one of her show events. Tears are shed, words are said, and life goes on...

That pretty much sums up season 2 of Laguna Beach.

There was much more mini drama spats throughout the season, but really the seasons main focus was Laguna Beach's new bad boy Jason.

Kristen; even though she was narrating didn't even come close to looking like the nasty girl she once was in season 1. After meeting up with the new bullies, she actually seems angelic compared to them.

I really had high hopes for Casey who was also Laguna's newcomer in the beginning. I thought she would immediately start creating trouble. She had that type of personality when I was first introduced to her. Yet she sort of disappeared and only had a few small appearances throughout the season. Sort of bummer, seeing how the show introduced her, and then sort of dropped her. I wanted to know more about her.

Taylor also a newcomer had few dull moments. She had a crush on Talan, who in season 1 always seemed like a nice guy. However when Taylor doesn't show him enough sexual interest, and keeps playing the hard to get role, he throws her to the side to hook up with Taylor's sexier flirty friend 'Kristen'.

Even though this was mean, shady and low, Talan still couldn't even come close to the chaos created by Jason. So really this small drama was just that. Small stuff, and didn't hold a large interest to producers, so you saw very little of the actual drama that probably went on behind the camera.

Overall Opinion Of Laguna Beach Season 2:

This was a darn good season. I enjoyed it more than the first (which I watched after the second). Every episode was filled with juicy drama, even Graduation Day. There was not a boring or dull moment.

It was a lot of fun watching rich kids make drama for themselves because they cannot think of anything else to do with their free time.

This season is the season of the witches. You will watch as best friends back-stab one another only to make up, and then break up again.

You watch them supposedly fall in love, and then cheat on their lovers the very next moment.

Like I said it was an excellent season, and the best out of the 3 seasons aired so far.

I would recommend this one to anyone really. Men and woman alike will find this show enjoyable. I wouldn't recommend allowing younger children to watch it; there are some small violent outbreaks, and very mild sexual content. It's geared more towards teens and adults.

This review is dunzo!

Dunzo- a word made up by Kristen. It pretty much means 'we're done!'
