Review of Birdy Babble Ball

After browsing through websites looking for safe bird toys for my Double Headed Yellow Amazon, I came across the Birdy Babble ball. This ball is advertised as a talking trainer, and after reading some positive reviews on it, I went ahead and picked it up for around $8.00 at my local Petco.

The ball is red in color, they also sell a new blue one which supposedly works better as far as training a bird to talk. The red one unfortunately plays a series of animal sounds which sound muffled, unrealistic and just poor in quality.

There are a few English phrases the ball speaks, like 'Here Kitty, Kitty', but the other speaking sounds it makes are so muffled I do not even know what they are saying.

The Birdy Babble Ball is activated with the slightest movement, which can get annoying at times because the sounds are wretched, and it is activated easily. Ours goes off when the bird is not even playing with it. If he moves through his cage and rattles it a bit, the vibrations of it will cause the ball to go off and start yapping.

My bird is a big talker, and while this Babble Ball has yet to become a talking trainer for him (thank God, because it sounds awful), my bird who is a big chewer and easily destroys his toys cannot seem to break through this one, so while the audio is of poor quality, the toy itself has provided him with enough joy, and he has yet to show signs of boredom with it.

The Birdy Babble Ball comes with a thick chain and clasp for you to hang it from your birds cage. We let him play with it outside of the cage to monitor him. However it seems to be made well enough as to where you can place it in his cage, but please do so while monitoring him, as big chewers could likely loosen this one up and chew through it.

Our guy is a semi bog chewer, but not like some parrots where they can destroy anything and everything given to them.

Overall:

The audio in the Birdy Babble Ball is of horrible quality, but my macaw seems to enjoy swinging it around on a daily basis, so it does provide entertainment as far as a standard bird toy goes. I personally cannot wait for the battery to die though.
