Coffee is what keeps me alive. Not literately...but it keeps me sane, (I
know thats sad). If I miss my morning cup of Joe, I'm groggy, angry,
and moody.
I like my coffee with flavor. I can't drink a cup without any sugar or
cream in it like some folks can. I like variety, and I like trying new
things, especially when it comes to my coffee creamer.
When I find something I like I will buy it time and time again, but if
a company releases a limited edition flavor, I want to be the first
greedy gut on line checking out.
Last month while in my local supermarket I of course stop into the
dairy section to check out what available creamers are there. It is
after all, the time of the year where coffee cream companies release
limited edition flavors. International Delight released 2 new fall
flavors, Vanilla Caramel Brownie, and Pumpkin Pie Spice.
I grabbed Pumpkin Pie Spice, because I had this hunch that Vanilla
Caramel Brownie would taste very similar to the regular French Vanilla.
I assume that International Delight only sells these limited edition
flavors in smaller 16 ounce bottles, because I was not able to find the
large bottle, which I would have preferred! Oh well.
At home I peeled of the protection label, and was greeted with a warm
scent of pumpkin pie. It smelled pretty damn realistic to what an actual
baked pumpkin pie would smell like. It was a bit strong, and spicy with
notes of cinnamon. I wondered if I would like this particular flavor in
my coffee at that moment...because it did seem a bit too over powering.
After brewing up a cup of coffee I poured in a small swig of Pumpkin
Pie Spice. I didn't want to pour in too much, because the scent was
overpowering. There is nothing I hate more than coffee creamer where the
flavor over powers the taste of the actual coffee flavor.
I took a sip of my fall cup of coffee, and ...
It was good. Really good actually. International Delight
Pumpkin Pie Spice, spiced up my coffee with a creamy pumpkin flavor, and
a hint of cinnamon that did not over power the taste of my coffee.
Towards the end of my cup though, I got sick of it. It was a good
flavor, I will give it that. A flavor worth trying...but it was
definitely not a flavor I could see myself wanting to drink down every
morning and afternoon. I like pumpkin pie, but not that much, and that
often.
It is my opinion that for Pumpkin Pie Spice is meant for those who absolutely adore
pumpkin pie. I think it is perfect that International Delight released
this limited edition flavor for the fall. It's probably a good thing
that this flavor only comes in a smaller bottle, too much of it, and you
will get sick of it; and fast.
Availability:
If you want to give Pumpkin Pie Spice a try it is still available at
local grocery stores, down the dairy isle. It will most likely stick
around till January. Buy it now before it is gone.
